Senior Clerk of Works – Construction Engineering

About the role

The Senior Clerk of Works will lead the full COW, ACOW and building works supervisor team, ensuring that all building quality supervision meets client requirements, ArchSD specifications and relevant codes. This senior position oversees both on‑site construction and off‑site modular (MiC) factory inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the COW, ACOW and building works supervisor team.
• Execute Clerk of Works duties in line with the ArchSD Site Administration Handbook.
• Vet construction material samples, cross‑check deliveries against approved drawings and secure proper storage.
• Attend and witness mandatory tests (piling, structural concrete, steelwork, curtain wall, waterproofing, tiling, MiC air & water tightness) and maintain a complete site record book.
• Conduct daily inspections of setting out, formwork, reinforcement, superstructure, finishes, external works and temporary haul roads, identifying discrepancies and ensuring rectification.
• Monitor site labour, conduct safety and environmental inspections, and participate in weekly safety meetings.
• Compile monthly progress reports, snag lists, test records and concealed work logs; coordinate pre‑handover, handover and defects liability inspections.
• Liaise with architects, structural engineers, BS team, subcontractors and government departments to resolve MiC factory interface issues.
• Centralise all inspection files, test certificates and sample records and hand over documentation to the Project Manager upon completion.
• Supervise MiC factory architectural finishes, waterproofing and joint workmanship; perform regular off‑site factory quality audits.

Required profile

• Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building/Building Studies (HK Polytechnic, IVE or equivalent).
• Level 2 or above in Chinese and English (HKDSE/HKCEE).
• Minimum 15 years site experience, including at least 10 years post‑qualification as a Clerk of Works.
• Holder of all four safety training certificates: Occupational Safety & Health Management Course, Basic Accident Prevention Course, Construction Industry Green Safety Card, Confined Space Certified Worker Training Certificate.
• Fluent Cantonese and competent written and spoken English.
• Experience with MiC modular construction and large public‑housing projects is a strong advantage.
