Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Anchorpoint Financial Limited, a joint venture between Standard Chartered Hong Kong, HKT and Animoca Brands, is building a regulated HKD stablecoin. The Senior Legal Counsel will join the legal team to provide commercial, risk‑based advice across stablecoin, product, technology and governance matters, working closely with senior management and multiple business functions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on domestic and overseas laws, regulations and regulatory expectations for the stablecoin and digital asset business, covering product development, issuance, redemption and distribution.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, partnership, outsourcing, technology, cloud, licensing, custody, banking and intra‑group arrangements.
• Provide legal support throughout the product lifecycle, reviewing proposals, terms and conditions, disclosures, marketing materials and product changes.
• Support regulatory applications, notifications, enquiries and inspections, liaising with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and other regulators.
• Advise on corporate transactions, investments, funding rounds, restructurings, share issuances, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
• Assist the Board and senior management on directors’ duties, conflicts, corporate authorities and required approvals.
• Manage disputes, investigations and material complaints, including fact‑finding, privilege handling and coordination with external counsel.
• Develop and maintain legal templates, policies, approval processes and deliver targeted legal training.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted in Hong Kong or another recognised common‑law jurisdiction with at least five years post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm, regulated financial institution, fintech or comparable in‑house role.
• Strong commercial contracting, drafting and negotiation experience, and experience advising on financial services, fintech, payments, technology or digital assets.
• Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical advice; excellent written and spoken English (Chinese language capability is an advantage).
• Commercial, pragmatic and solutions‑oriented mindset with sound judgement, strong sense of ownership and confidence to advise senior stakeholders.
