Clerk of Works – Construction Supervision

About the role

The Company is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to support senior supervision of building projects. The role involves on‑site inspections, quality audits at off‑site modular construction factories, and ensuring compliance with client requirements and statutory specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Clerk of Works in overall building supervision, including on‑site inspections and regular quality audits at off‑site MiC fabrication factories.
• Carry out full Clerk of Works duties in line with the ArchSD Site Administration Handbook, ensuring compliance with client requirements, ArchSD General Specification, BS EN standards and site supervision codes.
• Vet construction material samples and manufacturer certificates, cross‑check deliveries against approved samples, record non‑compliant items and arrange replacements.
• Attend and witness all building‑related tests such as pile testing, concrete cube testing, steel inspection, curtain‑wall watertight testing, MiC air/watertightness testing and tile pull‑out testing, maintaining a complete site record book.
• Conduct daily comprehensive site inspections covering setting out, formwork, reinforcement, superstructure, internal & external finishes, landscaping, temporary haul roads and drainage works; identify defects and ensure rectification.
• Verify daily labour strength of skilled and semi‑skilled workers, monitor site safety, noise, waste disposal and environmental measures, and participate in weekly safety walks and committee meetings.
• Prepare concealed work inspection logs, progress reports, snag lists and test records; support pre‑handover inspections and defect rectification during the defects liability period.
• Liaise with architects, structural engineers, subcontractors, utility companies and government departments to resolve interface and erection clashes.

Required profile

• Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building / Building Studies from HK Polytechnic, IVE or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Level 2 or above in Chinese & English for HKDSE/HKCEE (or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of site experience, including at least 6 years post‑qualification experience in construction supervision.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ArchSD Site Administration Handbook, ArchSD General Specification and BS EN standards.
• Experience with material sample verification and managing non‑compliant material replacement.
• Proficiency in construction testing: pile testing, concrete cube testing, steel inspection, curtain‑wall watertight testing, MiC air/watertightness testing, tile pull‑out testing.
• Ability to perform daily inspections of setting out, formwork, reinforcement, superstructure, finishes, landscaping, temporary haul roads and drainage works.
• Competence in labour strength verification and site safety, noise, waste and environmental monitoring.
• Effective liaison with architects, engineers, subcontractors and government agencies to resolve technical issues.
