Controls & Electrical Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Controls & Electrical Maintenance Engineer will ensure the reliability and availability of industrial automation and control systems at Hong Kong International Airport. Working in a high‑availability, safety‑critical environment, you will lead troubleshooting, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and drive continuous improvement of baggage and material handling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and field instrumentation.
• Lead advanced troubleshooting and fault diagnosis of control systems, including conveyor, baggage handling, and lift systems.
• Use Siemens S7 programming tools to monitor, debug, and modify control logic for performance optimisation.
• Interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams to identify root causes of failures.
• Maintain accurate fault logs and downtime records in Maximo CMMS and prepare detailed incident reports with root‑cause analysis.
• Identify recurring faults and propose logic optimisation and reliability enhancements.
• Supervise and guide technicians during repairs and system restoration.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and minimise system downtime.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechanical, Mechatronic or Control Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably with baggage or material handling systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs and industrial networks in real‑time.
• Strong analytical and root‑cause analysis skills.
