Deputy IT Manager / System Administrator

About the role

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited is seeking a Deputy IT Manager / System Administrator to support its extensive banking infrastructure in Hong Kong. This role combines strategic oversight of high‑availability systems with hands‑on administration of servers, middleware, storage and backup solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and manage server operating systems (Windows Server, SUSE Linux, Red Hat Linux, Kylin Server OS) and related middleware (WebSphere, Liberty, Tomcat, Nginx, BES Application Server).
• Design, implement and sustain High‑Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) architectures.
• Monitor system performance and capacity, troubleshoot incidents and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Implement baseline configurations, security settings and develop automation scripts using Python or Shell.
• Define backup strategies, verify backup integrity and manage SAN storage and virtualization platforms (VMware, FusionCompute).
• Develop policies, standards, procedures and manuals; participate in daily project planning and implementation.
• Track emerging technologies and recommend optimisations.
• Perform other ad‑hoc duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher; relevant technical certifications are a plus.
• Minimum three years of hands‑on experience with at least one listed server OS, middleware, virtualization, SAN storage or backup solution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English; Cantonese is advantageous.
• Meticulous, responsible and able to work independently under pressure while adhering to bank policies.
