Head of Tax Structuring – APAC (Singapore/HK/Sydney)

About the role

Nuveen Real Estate is seeking a senior tax professional to lead the structuring of real‑estate funds and transactions across the APAC region. The role will serve as the primary tax authority for funds domiciled in Luxembourg or Singapore, supporting investments in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and China.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all tax aspects of direct and indirect real‑estate transactions for APAC funds, working with tax advisors to design optimal structures.
• Lead tax structuring for new APAC funds and the restructuring of existing vehicles, aligning with commercial and investor requirements.
• Manage investor tax queries, including Australian stamp duty, WUT, MIT, and Singapore, Luxembourg and US tax perspectives.
• Monitor qualifying conditions, thresholds and legislative changes across relevant tax regimes.
• Ensure internal governance processes support fund tax structures and handle tax controversies and audits.
• Provide tax support to investment and finance teams, and collaborate with legal, external counsel and tax consultants.
• Assist the sales team with product‑specific tax questions.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree; tax, legal or accounting qualifications preferred.
• Significant experience in a tax advisory firm, tax law firm, or real‑estate fund management.
• Strong knowledge of national and international tax and investment tax law.
