Principal Consultant – Data Scientist Lead

About the role

Capco is seeking a Data Scientist Lead to help clients optimise fraud models, machine‑learning platforms and Google Cloud infrastructure. The role combines hands‑on engineering with strategic guidance to improve performance, reliability and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead GCP engineering design, diagnostics and optimisation across compute, storage and network services, implementing monitoring and observability.
• Support end‑to‑end development, validation and deployment of fraud and ML models, identifying opportunities to reduce compute and accelerate inference.
• Optimise data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, feature creation, training and serving with a focus on cost efficiency and responsible AI.
• Develop and tune large‑scale batch and streaming workloads using Spark or similar technologies.
• Apply strong Python and SQL skills, CI/CD, automated testing and modular design to ensure engineering excellence.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in data science, ML engineering or platform optimisation with a track record of delivering implementation‑ready recommendations.
• Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform, including optimisation of compute, storage, networking and ML workloads.
• Proven ability to collaborate with infrastructure, data‑science and business stakeholders.
