Graduate Python Software Developer (2027 Intake)

About the role

Eclipse Trading is a proprietary derivatives trading firm founded in 2007, with over 120 employees across four offices including its Hong Kong headquarters. Its Rapid Application Development (RAD) team works closely with traders and quantitative analysts to build and optimise Python-based solutions for algorithmic pricing and trading, giving users easy access to live data to build their own automation logic. The successful candidate joins an 8-week training programme and learns under the guidance of an experienced mentor, with work used in actual production.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the shared Python development framework
• Partner with traders, quants and other development teams to deliver new trading software and improve existing systems
• Drive key projects from inception through analysis, design, implementation and delivery
• Provide Tier 2 support as needed

Required profile

• Final year student or recent graduate with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong emphasis on programming
• Demonstrable development experience in Python, preferably from significant academic projects, open source contributions or professional work
• A passion for financial markets or proprietary trading (detailed knowledge not required)
• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems
• Motivation to work both as part of a team and independently, with excellent communication skills
