Senior Staff Software Engineer – Trading Service (C++)

About the role

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Trading Service team, you will shape the core infrastructure that powers OKX’s industry‑leading crypto trading platform. You will work on ultra‑low‑latency, high‑throughput systems that support spot, futures, perpetual swaps and options for millions of global users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement innovative solutions for a full suite of trading products, including spot, futures, perpetual swaps and options.
• Build and evolve core trading infrastructure, focusing on scalability, high availability and fault tolerance.
• Drive performance optimisation across the trading stack to achieve ultra‑low latency and high throughput.
• Identify, analyse and eliminate critical performance bottlenecks in C++‑based trading components.
• Serve as a technical authority on C++ performance, providing guidance, rigorous code reviews and mentorship to senior and mid‑level engineers.
• Define and enforce best practices for monitoring, alerting, incident response and post‑mortem analysis of mission‑critical systems.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in high‑frequency or low‑latency trading environments.
• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Proven ability to design and deliver large‑scale, resilient systems that handle high transaction volumes.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the capacity to translate business requirements into efficient technical solutions.
