Technology Quality Assurance Lead – Insurance

About the role

This senior position leads the quality assurance function for a major insurance organisation undergoing a technology transformation. The role is responsible for defining and executing a modern, AI‑enhanced testing strategy across core insurance systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define the overall quality strategy for projects, releases and production fixes, establishing clear "ready to ship" criteria.
• Champion AI‑powered testing, introducing machine‑learning tools to accelerate test creation, improve accuracy and reduce manual effort.
• Build reusable test assets, automation standards and continuous testing practices for the wider team.
• Collaborate with product owners, business experts, engineering and vendors to ensure testable requirements and clear quality expectations.
• Focus testing on core insurance processes such as policy administration, claims, underwriting, billing, renewals and customer service.
• Ensure testing complies with regulatory, audit and risk standards specific to the insurance industry.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines in partnership with DevOps and engineering teams.
• Track and report quality metrics including defect leakage, test coverage, cycle time and release readiness.
• Mentor and guide internal and outsourced testers and automation specialists.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in quality assurance or testing, with at least 2 years leading a team.
• Proven experience delivering QA in an insurance environment (policy, claims, billing, underwriting or customer service).
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across multiple teams and vendors.
• Relevant testing or QA certifications are a plus.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience designing test strategies and building automation.
• Proficiency with tools such as Playwright, TestNG, Cypress, Katalon, JUnit, Selenium, UFT or Appium.
• Familiarity with AI‑enabled testing concepts (defect prediction, self‑healing automation, intelligent test case generation).
• Experience embedding automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
