Finance Director – Strategic Leadership Role

About the role

We are seeking a senior Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership for a sizeable engineering organization. Reporting to the CEO and Executive Committee, you will shape the financial direction, oversee planning and analysis, and ensure robust governance and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the organisation's financial strategy in line with corporate objectives.
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership and the Board.
• Lead long‑term financial planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
• Evaluate strategic initiatives, investments and business cases to support decision‑making.
• Oversee the annual budgeting process and multi‑year financial plans.
• Monitor performance against budgets and KPIs, delivering insightful reports.
• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing, financial statements and Board papers.
• Lead treasury, liquidity, cash‑flow and funding activities, including banking relationships.
• Oversee capital expenditure planning for major projects and infrastructure.
• Maintain strong internal controls, risk frameworks and governance compliance.
• Act as liaison with external auditors, regulators and stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing finance team.
• Drive finance transformation, process automation and system enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related discipline.
• Qualified accountant.
• Minimum 18 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including large organisations.
• Proven track record of leading finance teams and managing sizeable budgets and capital programmes.
• Experience supporting Board and committee reporting.
