Underwriter – Mid-Market Commercial Insurance

About the role

Responsible for multi-line underwriting, primarily Property & Casualty, for the Mid-Market domestic portfolio of Zurich’s Hong Kong Business Unit. The role involves analysing new and renewal business, managing broker relationships and supporting business acquisition and retention.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain profitable multi-line underwriting for Mid-Market portfolios and provide training to associates.
• Underwrite new business and renewals within delegated authority, measuring exposure, analysing risk, setting pricing and coverage, and negotiating terms.
• Contribute to account management, building relationships with customers and brokers, handling queries and ensuring underwriting discipline.
• Update and use Underwriting Scorecards and MI tools to manage portfolio mix, performance and pipeline.

Required profile

• Degree holder with over 2 years of General Insurance experience.
• Strong multi-line underwriting knowledge, especially Property & Casualty, and experience evaluating Middle-Market exposures.
• Proven negotiation skills with Mid-Market deals and ability to resolve complex broker issues.
• Team player with fluency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin is a plus.
