APAC Equity Strategy Associate – Big Data

About the role

Macquarie is looking for an APAC Equity Strategy Associate in Hong Kong to join its Equities team and help shape the next generation of equity strategy products across Asia Pacific. Working closely with the Head of APAC Equity Microstrategy, you will support the development of differentiated investment insights at the intersection of fundamentals, thematic investing, market structure and alternative data. The role suits a technically minded person who applies data and technology to uncover investment opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Apply data science, automation and visualisation techniques to uncover opportunities across markets, sectors and companies
• Partner with Equity Research, Sales and Trading teams, contributing to research projects and communicating key findings
• Analyse large datasets to identify patterns, trends and signals that inform investment decisions
• Transform data from sources such as Bloomberg, FactSet, exchange datasets, alternative data providers and internal research into actionable insights
• Help translate analytical outputs into commercially relevant insights for equity strategy products

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance or a related discipline
• 1+ year of experience with large and complex datasets, with a track record of generating insights and solving analytical problems
• Intellectual curiosity, strong problem-solving skills and ability to combine technical expertise with commercial thinking
• Prior financial markets experience is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong technical and analytical skills, including Python, Tableau or similar tools
• Ability to present complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences
